The University of Maine women’s hockey team dropped a pair of games over the weekend in Storrs, Conn., and Boston – 5-2 to the University of Connecticut Saturday and 4-1 against Northeastern University Sunday.
In Saturday’s game, Cristin Allen scored two goals for 6-3-2 Connecticut. Dominique Thibeault, Amy Hollstein and Michelle Binning also scored. Brittany Wilson made 11 saves off 13 shots.
Jennie Gallo scored off assists from Jenna Ouellette and Dawn Sullivan at 7:41 in the first period to tie it at 1-1 forMaine. Gallo tied it again at 2-2 with an Ouellette assist at 15:27 in the second. Genevieve Turgeon saved 36 of 41 shots.
In Sunday’s game, Julia Marty scored three goals to power 6-1-2 Northeastern. Kristi Kehoe added a goal and an assist. Florence Schelling stopped 27 of 28 shots.
Jordan Colliton netted the goal for the Black Bears in the first period on an assist from Abby Barton. Turgeon made 25 saves on 29 shots for 2-8 Maine.
Field hockey
Castleton State 4, Saint Joseph’s 3
At Castleton, Vt., Kayla Blank scored an unassisted goal 1:33 into overtime to give top-seeded Castleton State College the North Atlantic Conference championship over No. 3 Saint Joseph’s College of Standish on Saturday.
Kayla Blank also scored in the first half off a Carolyn Griggs assist for 14-7 Castleton State. Griggs added two goals with assists from Molly Fraher and Blank. Trisha Clark saved 12 of 17 shots.
Saint Joseph’s erased a 3-1 deficit to tie it at 3-3 when Julia Ostrowki scored an unassisted goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.
Courtney Rague scored the other two goals for the 14-5 Monks. Kayla Nowell and Sara Bartell provided assists. Meaghan Johnson turned away 10 of 25 shots.

UM-Fort Kent loses two
At Fort Kent, Gregory St. Amand had 13 points and 12 rebounds as Quebec Montreal defeated the University of Maine at Fort Kent 64-60 Sunday. Walsh also beat the Bengals 83-52 on Saturday.
