As part of its Veterans Day observances Tuesday, the Cole Land Transportation Museum recognized the following winners of its annual “What Freedom Means to Me After Interviewing a Veteran” essay contest:

Category B, grades nine through 12:

. First place, Nate Burke, Hampden Academy, who interviewed Carl Calstad.

. Second place, Martha Ludington, Calais High School, who interviewed John Anderson.

Category A, grades six though eight:

. First place, Jennifer Poulin, Winslow Junior High School, who interviewed Ed Parent.

. Second place, Vivienne Harden, Acadia Christian School, who interviewed Alton Grant.

. Third place, Shayne Wescott, Acadia Christian School, who interviewed Norman Rossignol.
