Silver Star honorees

Maj. Gen. John Libby of the Maine National Guard presented Maine Silver Star medals for honorable service to the following former prisoners of war and Purple Heart medal recipients during a ceremony at the Cole Land Transportation Museum.

. Staff Sgt. James B. O’Kane, Brewer, Army, POW, Germany.

. Sgt. Ralph S. Adams, Auburn, Army, POW, North Korea.

. Cpl. Richard Grenier, Old Town, Army, POW, North Korea.

Other former war prisoners receiving Silver Stars but unable to attend Tuesday’s event were Staff Sgt. Albert Deveau of East Millinocket and Sgt. Elmer L. Jackson of Anson. Both served in the Army and were held captive in North Korea.
