BANGOR – The Shaw’s Supermarkets Charitable Foundation recently contributed $10,000 to The Acadia Hospital’s Keep the Promise Capital Campaign.

The donation will go toward the creation of a new Pediatric and Family Center that will house Acadia’s youth outpatient programs, and for classrooms used for the education of both day program and inpatient children and teens.

In presenting the check to Acadia’s new president and CEO, David S. Proffitt, Hogan Road Shaw’s Supermarket store director Norm Jolin said, “Shaw’s Supermarkets believes in the power of philanthropy, and we see our gift to Acadia Hospital as an excellent investment for the hundreds of youth and their family members who will benefit from the new Pediatric and Family Center.”

In receiving the contribution, Proffitt said: “On behalf of our staff and patients, I am very pleased to accept this check. Having just started in my role as CEO of Acadia, it is heartening to know we have earned the support of companies like Shaw’s. The Pediatric and Family Center is the largest component of our capital campaign, which includes upgrades to the Acadia Recovery Community and expansion of our substance abuse treatment program space on the Acadia campus.”

The Keep the Promise campaign is scheduled to wrap up in November. It recently reached the $1.1 million mark.
