AUGUSTA – The Maine State Museum will open a new exhibit, “At Home in Maine,” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22. The exhibit is the largest created by the museum in more than 20 years. Admission to the opening is free.
“At Home in Maine” features more than 1,000 domestic artifacts from Maine, many on exhibit for the first time. The stories of Mainers at home throughout history will be told through dozens of historical photographs, displays and room settings depicting places where Maine families and friends gathered, worked and lived.
The day’s activities will feature live performances of dance, music and storytelling reflecting Maine cultures and demonstrations of spinning, quilting, embroidery, furniture-making, coopering and violin-making.
