ORONO – The New Hampshire Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 first-period lead en route to a 7-1 women’s hockey victory over the Maine Black Bears Friday night at Alfond Arena.

UNH outshot Maine 33-8.

Jenn Wakefield scored two goals and notched two assists to lead the 7-1-3 Wildcats. Sam Faber, Maggie Joyce, Shannon Sisk, Sarah Cuthbert and Kelly Paton each chipped in with a goal. Kayley Herman and Lindsey Minton combined for seven saves.

Jennie Gallo scored a second-period goal off a Courtney Sheary assist for the 2-9 Black Bears. Genevieve Turgeon made 26 saves.
