AUBURN – Billy Clark rolled up 201 yards on 36 carries with a touchdown to power the Skowhegan Indians to their first Pine Tree Conference championship since 1989 with a 20-0 victory over Edward Little Saturday at Walton Field.

Skowhegan (10-1) takes on Western Maine champion Bonny Eagle of Standish (9-2) on Saturday at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland for the Class A state title.

The Indians controlled play with their strong ground game, amassing 310 rushing yards. Cody Vigue ran the ball 24 times for 121 yards and one score as Skowhegan overcame muddy conditions on the rain-soaked field.

Skowhegan scored the only points it would need on its first possession, a 62-yard drive capped off by a 1-yard plunge by Vigue. The Indians made it 12-0 with eight seconds left in the second quarter on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Jordan McGowan to Peter Boardman.

Vigue also sparkled on defense for the winners, making three interceptions.

Buddy Foss rushed for 63 yards to lead Edward Little (9-2), which couldn’t get its passing game clicking.
