ORONO – Amy Stech of the University of Maine scored on the power play with 7:18 left in the game and Abby Barton added an even-strength goal two minutes later to rally the Black Bears to a 5-3 Hockey East women’s victory over Boston College Sunday afternoon at Alfond Arena.

Maine had taken a 3-1 lead after two periods on goals by Stech, Jenna Ouellette and Jordan Colliton, but BC answered with back-to-back power-play goals by Kelli Stack with about 10 minutes left the third.

Jessica Bond, Lexie Hoffmeyer and Jennie Gallo each notched two assists for 3-9 Maine and Genevieve Turgeon made 31 saves.

For 7-2-2 BC, Molly Schaus made 21 saves. Stack also scored BC’s second-period goal.

Women’s soccer

Williams 3, Husson 0

At Williamstown, Mass., Sunday, Williams outshot Husson 26-6 and scored one goal in the first half and two in the second to advance to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Division III women’s soccer tourney.

Bret Eisenhart scored Williams’ first-half goal on a cross from Sarah Walmsley with 2:55 left. Brianna Wolfson and Sara Wild each added a goal for the 17-0-1 winners, who are ranked No. 1 in the nation. Lauren Sinnenberg made two saves.

Husson’s best chance to score came early in the second half when Shelby Bradford fired a shot on goal from well outside the penalty box and Sinneberg made a leaping save.

Tatyana Wolterbeek made four saves for 16-5 Husson of Bangor.

Women’s basketball

Husson 73, UMFK 65

At Newman Gym in Bangor, Jenny Rollins scored eight of her 27 points during a 14-5 scoring run late in the second half that lifted the Eagles by the UMaine-Fort Kent Bengals on Sunday.

Laura Archer started the surge with a 3-pointer and Rollins took over with two 3-pointers and a baseline jumper.

Bree Hanscom chipped in with 15 points for the winners.

Ashley Ames paced UMFK with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Shir Fuchs added 18 points and Amber Garrison recorded six assists.

At Beverly, Mass., Megan McBride notched a goal in the 33rd minute to lead top-seeded Endicott College past fourth seeded Saint Joseph’s College in the ECAC semifinals on Saturday.

Chelsea DeFeo stopped seven of 11 shots for 17-5 Endicott.

Meaghan Johnson made one save on five shots for the Monks, who finish at 15-6.

At Brunswick, Bowdoin closed the game with a 14-2 run to take the victory in the mutual opener Saturday.

At Willimantic, Conn., Rukevwe Ehwarieme netted two goals to spark Eastern Connecticut State past Husson University of Bangor on Saturday to advance to the ECAC championship match.

Carl Appel made two saves on nine shots for 15-3-3 Eastern Connecticut.

Miguel Dominguez stopped nine of 23 shots for the 11-7-1 Eagles.
