A former Bangor resident who is living in Rhode Island was arrested in Brewer on Tuesday for allegedly stealing a vehicle and selling marijuana, according to Brewer police Detective Nelson Feero.
Feero said he was driving past a Broadlawn Drive home he had been to earlier in the day on an unrelated matter when he spotted a vehicle with Rhode Island plates. After having the plate numbers checked, Feero learned they matched those of a vehicle reported stolen from Woonsocket, R.I., the night before.
When Feero went inside the Brewer home, he found among the occupants three men from Rhode Island ages 18 to 20. After speaking with the three, he determined that Damian Fleetwood, 20, who used to live in Bangor and was here to visit relatives, had stolen the vehicle.
Feero then learned Fleetwood also was wanted on two warrants out of Waterville, one for imprudent speed and the other for operating a motor vehicle after his license had been suspended. A search of the Brewer home turned up a bag containing a usable amount of marijuana. After questioning those at the home, he determined that Fleetwood had sold the bag to one of the people there.
Fleetwood was arrested on the warrants and charged with stealing the vehicle and selling the pot. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. He made bail late Tuesday and was ordered to appear in Penobscot County Superior Court in January. (Dawn Gagnon, BDN)
