PORTLAND – Josh McAuliffe of Bangor advanced to a final in the USA Boxing New England Championships by defeating Brent Whitley of Holyoke, Mass., by unanimous decision in a light heavyweight division semifinal bout Saturday at the Portland Boxing Club.

The finals are set for Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. at the Stevens Avenue Armory in Portland.

Other Maine boxers advancing included light heavyweights Chris Nickerson of Detroit and Eric Watkins of Frankfort, both in the sub-novice class.
