CARRABASSETT VALLEY – Sugarloaf has begun snowmaking and the resort plans to open for the season Friday.

Rich Wilkinson, vice president of operations, said forecasts are looking favorable for a good window of snowmaking before Friday.

Forecasts call for cold temperatures throughout the week, and snowmaking operations are expected to continue around the clock.

Sunday River claimed bragging rights as the first to open on Oct. 30 but it’s currently closed. It hopes to reopen later in the week.
