Marine museum plans annual wreath festival

SEARSPORT – The Penobscot Marine Museum will hold the second annual Festival of Wreaths and Silent Auction on Friday, Dec. 5 and Saturday, Dec. 6. This event is free and open to the public.

The festival will begin at 5 p.m. Friday with an opening reception at the Main Street Store and Gallery. The evening event will showcase wreaths created by local artists, merchants and nonprofits. The preview and silent auction of the wreaths will continue 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.

The Penobscot Bay Singers will give a holiday performance at 7 p.m. Friday at the First Congregational Church. The Milkweed Puppet Theater will perform “The Elves and the Shoemaker” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by an Art Workshop for children at the Marine Museum.

Students from the SAD 56 After School Program will decorate a holiday tree with handmade postcard ornaments featuring images of their hometowns. The postcard tree will be on display throughout the Festival of Wreaths and during museum hours throughout December.
