WINTHROP – NotifyMD, which provides messaging services to physicians’ offices nationwide, said Tuesday it will open a new “care coordination center” in Winthrop, creating hundreds of new jobs.

The Tennessee-based company has six contact centers nationwide, including a center in Farmington. The new Winthrop operations center at 1705 Route 202 will be NotifyMD’s largest care coordination center in the country, employing 200 in the next two years.

On Tuesday, Gov. John Baldacci joined NotifyMD’s management team, Maine & Co., Winthrop town leaders and members of the Kennebec Valley Council of Governments to announce the expansion. The company will lease 21,000 square feet of the former Carleton Mills facility.
