GORHAM – Greg Whitaker of Presque Isle scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the University of Southern Maine to an 85-71 men’s basketball victory over the University of New England on Tuesday night.
Whitaker shot 12 of 16 from the field, and also chipped in five assists for the Huskies.
Ellsworth’s Andy Tracy added 21 points for USM, while Luke Pollock had 15.
Johnnie Jefferson led UNE of Biddeford Pool with 21 points, while J.J. Roseman scored 10.

Stacey Kent added 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists for USM; Kaylie DeMillo had 11 points and Kristi Violette contributed 10 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Freshmen Kari Pelletier and Kelley Paradis had 11 points apiece for 1-1 UNE.
