AUGUSTA – The cooperative effort of several police agencies has ended a string of 14 burglaries in six different towns. Three men are under arrest.
The Major Crimes Task Force, investigators from the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, the Oakland, Fairfield, Winslow and Waterville police departments and the Maine State Police worked in conjunction during October and November to break the case.
Kennebec County Sheriff Randall A. Liberty said Wednesday the following have been arrested:
. Travis Scott Barrett, 20, of 40 Mount Vernon Ave., Augusta. He was charged with burglary and theft by unauthorized taking and issued a warrant arrest for possession of Schedule W drugs. Additional charges are pending. Barrett also had been arrested for theft and drug possession on June 2, 2007. He remains in custody at the Somerset County Jail unable to post bail of $10,000 cash.
. Kenneth W. Mitchell, 21, of 44 King St., Waterville. He was charged with burglary, theft by unauthorized taking or transfer, criminal mischief and violation of condition of release. He remains in custody at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility on a violation of conditional release and $10,000 cash bail.
. Christopher P. Reed, 22, of 29 Summer St., Waterville. He is charged with aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs (oxycodone, methadone) and receiving stolen property. He remains in custody at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility on $3,500 cash bail.
The sheriff said that on Nov. 18 a search warrant was executed at the residence of Christopher Reed, located on Summer Street in Waterville, which resulted in the seizure of a 42-inch plasma big screen TV, oxycodone, methadone, several computers, and eight firearms.
