CUTLER – The Friends of Little River Lighthouse will honor 90-year-old Purcell Corbett at a Lighthouse Benefit Potluck Supper at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the Bay Ridge Elementary School.
The nonprofit group, which is a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation, oversees the care and restoration of the 1847 Little River Light Station, where Purcell Corbett’s father, Willie W. Corbett, served as the last lighthouse keeper of the United States Lighthouse Service.
Purcell Corbett is the last surviving sibling of the eight children of Velma and Willie Corbett, all of whom grew up on the island lighthouse station.
The public is encouraged to bring a dish to the supper. There will be a $3 donation per person at the door, raffle ticket sales and Little River Lighthouse merchandise available for purchase to help with the care of the lighthouse.
For information or to donate a dish, call Cynthia Rowden at 259-3696, Ruth Farris at 259-7769 or Karen Staake at 259-4425. To learn more about Little River Lighthouse, go to www.LittleRiverLight.org or call 259-3833.
