Gross, Minsky, Mogul celebrates 70 years

BANGOR – The Bangor law firm Gross, Minsky & Mogul, P.A., recently thanked its clients by throwing a 70th anniversary party at the Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono.

“The party was one small way of recognizing the role our clients play in our success and longevity,” said senior partner George Schelling.

In 1938 Edward I. Gross opened the law practice in downtown Bangor.

At the party, Norman Minsky, who joined Gross in 1955 and continues to practice law, spoke of the firm’s history. Gross’ widow, Rae, who flew up from Florida for the event, spoke of the early years. While the firm started out as a real estate and collections practice, its 11 attorneys now offer a broad array of legal services to clients, including litigation and transactional work.

Two former partners currently serve as the two chief judges of the federal court in Maine. George Singal is chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the district of Maine, and Louis Kornreich is the chief judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the district of Maine.
