BANGOR – Two women suffered various injuries, including possible fractures, cuts and bruises, on Monday night when their cars collided on Cedar Street, according to Bangor police.

Investigating Officer Dan Herrick of the Bangor Police Department said the injuries were not life-threatening. Neither woman was named pending notification of relatives.

According to Herrick, a small 2001 Buick sedan driven by a 30-year-old woman from Clifton was headed down Cedar Street at about 9:30 p.m. when an oncoming 2000 Chevy Lumina driven by a 21-year-old Bradley woman attempted to turn left onto Third Street.

“They collided right in the middle of the intersection,” Herrick said. “It was a pretty intense head-on.”

At least one of the women was wearing a seat belt, he said.

Each was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The accident remains under investigation, Herrick said, adding, “There is the possibility of alcohol involved on the part of the turning vehicle.”

Members of the Bangor Fire Department and Officers Steve Jordan and Eric Tourtelotte assisted Herrick at the scene, which was cleared in about a half-hour.
