BRIDGEWATER, Nova Scotia – The fall lobster season in the lobster-rich waters of western Nova Scotia got under way amid worries about low prices that fishermen will get for their catch.

Monday was the first day of the fall lobster season for Nova Scotia fishermen from Digby to Cole Harbour.

Fishermen are worried about low prices this year given the global economic slowdown, and they’ve voted to stop fishing on Sunday out of ports from Baccaro to Digby in order to limit supply.

Fishermen in Maine are coping with prices that have fallen to levels not seen for years.
