John M. Rohman, principal & CEO of WBRC Architects Engineers of Bangor, Portland and Sarasota, Fla., was recognized with a presidential citation at the 2008 American Society of Interior Designers’ New England gala for his leadership in growing the creative economy. Rohman has been involved for many years in the arts and has served as chairman of the board of directors of the Maine Crafts Association, on the board of directors of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra and on the University of Maine Museum of Art advisory committee. He is chairman of the Maine Arts Commission and serves on the boards of the Maine Chamber of Commerce and the National Council for the Traditional Arts. Rohman served as mayor of Bangor in 2001. Both the arts and downtown-waterfront development were a focus during his tenure, during which Bangor was selected as host for three years of the National Folk Festival. When Gov. John Baldacci established the Creative Economy Council, he named Rohman as its chairman. In 2003, Rohman was recognized by the University of Maine for being “one of the driving forces behind Bangor’s Cultural Renaissance.”
Tom Hansen has joined Chartrand Imports in Rockland as director of sales and marketing. Hansen was previously the fine-wine buyer at Hannaford Supermarkets’ corporate office in Scarborough. Chartrand Imports is a national importer, specializing in organically grown wines sold throughout the U.S.
Maryellen Jones Reynolds, assistant vice president and branch manager with Camden National Bank’s branch in Bucksport, has chosen to make a donation in her name from Camden National Corp. to the Bangor Humane Society in recognition of her customer service efforts.
The Maine Bankers Association presented its 2008 Maine Senate Legislator of the Year Award to state Sen. Dennis Damon. Damon, D-Trenton, has served as co-chairman of the Legislature’s Marine Resources and Transportation committees and of the Joint Committee on Future Maine Prosperity. In making its presentation at the annual meeting, the Maine Bankers Association noted Damon’s leadership on the migratory waterfowl and shoreland zoning issues.
