The giveaway marked the conclusion of a 25-day Maine town trivia contest hosted by bangordailynews.com’s new community Web site Maineville.com in collaboration with Quirk Chevrolet and the University of Maine System.

Ten finalists participated in the grand-prize drawing at the Maineville Community Party on Saturday afternoon at Quirk Auto Park.

Rebecca Corey of Garland and Gail Fernald of Brewer each won $50 cash cards, and the Cobalt went to Holly Grant.

“I was stunned at first because I’ve never won anything,” Grant said after the drawing. “When they said my name I turned around and looked at my sister and just went into a state of shock. I don’t have a car, and if I hadn’t won this, I wouldn’t have been able to afford to buy one.”

Grant watches her niece and nephew’s children, and having the new car will allow her greater freedom to make necessary trips without borrowing vehicles or asking for a ride.

“Everybody in town has been here to look at the car and sit in it. I just cleared a space in the garage for it and I couldn’t be happier.”
