Parsonsfield man arrested in car incident

PARSONSFIELD – A local man is behind bars after allegedly ramming his car into a Maine State Police cruiser early Tuesday and driving off as the trooper fired shots his way.

Jesse Sanborn, 23, was being held at the York County Jail on charges of reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief and assault.

According to police, Sanborn refused to stop and sped away when Trooper Daniel Worcester tried to pull him over at 1:45 a.m. in Limerick for suspicion of drunken driving.

Police say that a short time later, Sanborn turned his car around and collided head-on with the trooper’s cruiser on Randall Pond Road in Parsonsfield. Worcester, who was not injured, then fired his gun.

Police said about a dozen troopers and York County deputies searched for Sanborn’s car, which they found abandoned in a gravel pit. Sanborn was tracked down to nearby home by a police dog and arrested.

The Attorney General’s Office is investigating the incident.
