Orrington manager to take Tremont job

ORRINGTON – Town Manager Carl Young has accepted a job offer from Tremont to be that community’s tax assessor and code enforcement officer and is leaving his post at the beginning of January.

Selectmen on Monday approved releasing Young from the final six months of his contract to allow him to take the job, which he starts on Jan. 2.

“As you know, this is my chosen field, and the position offers comparable pay, improved benefits and added security for my wife and I,” a Nov. 13 memo from Young states.

During the meeting, selectmen also accepted with regret the resignation of Deputy Doug Smith of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department.
