BANGOR – Retired Navy Adm. Gregory Johnson, former commander of U.S. naval forces in Europe, will speak on “The Future of U.S. Foreign Policy: An Opportunity to Re-Establish Multinational Security Engagement” at noon Friday, Dec. 12 at Wellman Commons, 300 Union St., on the former campus of Bangor Theological Seminary.

Johnson is a native of Westmanland. In 1968 he graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Johnson’s decorations and awards include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal (with three Bronze Oak Leaves), Navy Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (with two Gold Stars), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medial (with two Gold Stars), NATO Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, and various service and campaign awards.

Since retiring in December 2004, Adm. Johnson has founded Snow Ridge Associates, which provides strategic advice and counsel to the public. He lives in Harpswell.
