The single-copy price of the weekend edition of the Bangor Daily News, currently $1.50, will increase to $2 at newsstands and stores beginning today, Nov. 29.

This is the first increase in the retail price of the weekend paper since September 1996.

“Rising costs, including the cost of transportation and newsprint, made this increase necessary,” said Circulation Director Jim Hayes, who emphasized the increase would not affect home delivery rates.
