BROWNVILLE – A Presque Isle man was injured Monday afternoon when his vehicle left Lakeview Road, struck a rock and rolled over, police said.

Brandon Bridges, 23, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the 1 p.m. crash, was ejected and thrown about 25 feet, according to Brownville Police Chief Nick Clukey.

Bridges was taken by Three Rivers ambulance to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, where he was being evaluated late Monday afternoon, according to Tom Lizotte, the hospital’s director of marketing and development.

Clukey said the accident initially was reported as a two-car accident but only one vehicle was at the scene when he arrived. Bridges told police he had been northbound when he lost control of his 1998 Isuzu Rodeo in the slush. Clukey said the vehicle slid sideways before it struck a rock in the ditch and flipped over.

The Isuzu was demolished.

Clukey said the accident is under investigation.
