Rotary announces grant opportunities

BANGOR – The Rotary Club of Bangor has announced grant opportunities for nonprofits in the Bangor area that serve youths and seniors.

In March 2009 the club will sponsor “Music Off Broadway,” its annual major fundraiser. The net proceeds from the event will benefit local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Bangor, Brewer or adjacent communities with programs benefiting youths up to and including high school age, or seniors age 65 or older.

The club will accept grant applications through 5 p.m. Dec. 23. Grants will be awarded in early April 2009 and funds may not be used for programs taking place before April 2009. Applications that demonstrate how the program builds leadership skills, promotes community service, or engages Rotarians as volunteers are preferred.

Electronic submissions are preferred. E-mail a one-page narrative in Word format to Scott Boucher at sboucher@barresifinancial.com. The e-mail should include the nonprofit’s contact information, including name, address and phone number. Paper submissions may be mailed to Boucher at Barresi Financial, P.O. Box 2520, Bangor, ME 04402.
