CAMDEN – An experienced marketing and fundraising specialist has been appointed to be the new executive director of the Camden-Rockport-Lincolnville Chamber of Commerce.

Dan Bookham of Rockland was selected in a nationwide search of more than 30 applicants, according to a press release from the Chamber this week.

Bookham, 35, will begin his new job Jan. 5, 2009.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve such an important community institution,” Bookham said Wednesday in a statement to the Bangor Daily News. “I am eager to get started and to put my shoulder to the wheel alongside member businesses and the community as a whole to work for positive outcomes for our region.”

A native of the United Kingdom, since immigrating to the United States Bookham has worked in marketing, broadcasting and charitable fields.

Most recently, he has worked with Broadreach Family & Community Services as the nonprofit organization’s fundraising and communications director. He has had responsibility for the leadership, management, expansion and coordination for fundraising and public relations for the agency’s programs and sites in Knox, Waldo and Lincoln counties, according to the press release.

He is a member of the Midcoast Forum on Foreign Relations, the FMC BioPolymer Community Advisory Board and a director of the Camden Conference.

Bookham was born in England and brought up throughout Great Britain and Europe. He is married to Jessie Davis of Bar Harbor, and they have an 18-month-old daughter and two dogs.
