HAMPDEN – Three people were injured Wednesday morning when two vehicles collided between the on- and offramps connecting Cold Brook Road to I-95.

The accident occurred when Richard Eberhart, 50, of Kenduskeag failed to yield while making a left turn from the westbound to northbound lanes, said Officer Joshua Gunn of the Hampden Police Department.

Eberhart’s 2000 Jeep Cherokee was struck by an eastbound 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by Lawrence Keezer, 53, of Bangor. Officer Gunn placed the time of the accident at 9:57 a.m.

Both drivers and Eberhart’s passenger, 43-year-old Roger Eldridge, were taken by ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center to be treated for head injuries and neck and back pain. Eberhart and Keezer both reported difficulty breathing, Gunn said.

All air bags deployed at the time of the collision and the three people involved were wearing seat belts, Gunn said. The two vehicles were demolished.
