Debbie Gray, executive director of Nature’s Bounty Food Pantry of Oakfield, reports that organization has “seen a large increase in need in our coverage area” and, she told me, funds to fulfill those needs are nearly nonexistent.
To help neighbors in need, Nature’s Bounty will hold a spaghetti supper and holiday dessert auction-toy gift auction at 5 p.m. today at the Oakfield Community Center.
Community member Nelson Miller will serve as auctioneer for this benefit, which will help the organization assist people from East Millinocket to Littleton, Gray said.

Emma Remick reports the annual First Congregational Church of Ellsworth Christmas Fair will be 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the church on the corner of Church and State streets.
Featured are “small hand-crafted items, fleece blankets, jewelry, books, baked goods and attic treasures,” Remick wrote.

During Bangor’s Festival of Lights Parade, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, Young said, members of Bangor and Brewer high school ROTC programs will march beside the float and collecting toys from parade viewers.
Young encourages you to bring unwrapped toys and have the student “place them on the float.”
Sunbury Village will hold a brunch from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Dec. 7, on Ohio Street and admission is an unwrapped toy.
