BANGOR – Gov. John Baldacci has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff on Sunday to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day.
Also on Sunday in Bangor, an annual wreath-laying ceremony will be held on Kenduskeag Stream to mark the event. The ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, on Kenduskeag Plaza behind Bank of America.
Col. Stephen Atkinson, commander of the Maine Air National Guard, will give the Pearl Harbor Day address followed by a floral salute, the Navy hymn, a salute to the honored dead, taps and a benediction.
The annual ceremony pays homage to those killed in Pearl Harbor.
