SANFORD – The Sanford High School band has been selected to march in the 2009 inaugural parade next month as part of the ceremonies around the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama. U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine made the announcement Friday.

SANFORD – The Sanford High School band has been selected to march in the 2009 inaugural parade next month as part of the ceremonies around the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe of Maine made the announcement Friday.

The presidential inauguration parade is a tradition honoring the new president. The event on Jan. 20 will include a procession of ceremonial military regiments, marching bands, floats and citizens groups.

The parade starts at the U.S. Capitol and proceeds to the White House.
