MOUNT DESERT – A Sullivan man was stabbed Saturday morning, according to police.
Details of the incident were still sketchy on Sunday.
According to Mount Desert police Officer Leigh Guildford, the initial call came in at about 2:45 a.m. A resident on Millbrook Road in Northeast Harbor reported that a man had knocked on his door and claimed he had been stabbed.
Police have not released the identity of the 28-year-old victim. Guildford said the victim told police that he had been picked up by acquaintances and taken to a location on Mount Desert Island.
“He said there was an argument and he received stab wounds to the stomach area,” Guildford said.
The man was taken by ambulance to Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor and later transferred to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. Guildford said the man was treated at the Ellsworth hospital and then left the facility against the physician’s advice.
Police do not believe this was a random act, and Guildford said that residents should not be concerned for their safety.
