Crews restore power after winds down lines

BANGOR – Utility crews have restored power to nearly 2,500 Maine homes and businesses that lost electricity early Monday in weather-related outages.

Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. said that about 2,000 of their customers were without electricity Monday morning, almost 1,200 of them in Piscataquis County and the Lincoln area, nearly 670 in Hancock County, and fewer in Washington and Penobscot counties. The company said fewer than 100 customers were without power by midday Monday, most of those in Hancock County.

Bangor Hydro officials said the outages likely were caused by high winds and low temperatures and that power lines were reported down in several areas.

Central Maine Power said about 500 customers were without power early Monday morning, but that power was restored to all of them by late morning.
