ORONO – Brittany Howe and Kaili Jordan each had 19 kills as the University of Maine defeated New Hampshire 30-19, 27-30, 30-26, 21-30, 15-13 for its eighth straight victory.
Shelly Seipp was the leading setter for the 9-6 Black Bears with 63 assists, and she had 10 digs. Carmen Morgan added 12 kills and 26 digs, and Leah Guidinger had 10 kills. Jody Connacher came up with 19 digs, and Jordan added a dozen. Howe also had six block assists.
Emmy Blouin topped the 4-12 Wildcats with 19 kills, Katie Weidner had 50 assists, and Erin Walker contributed 15 kills and six service aces. Jen Williams posted 30 digs.
It was the America East Conference opener for both teams.

At Farmington, Emily Lawrence scored on a Christine Maloney assist at 62:50 in the second half to give Colby College the win.
Molly Rice made six saves on 10 shots for Colby.
Ashleigh Biette stopped seven of 15 shots for the University of Maine at Farmington.
Southern Maine 2, St. Joseph’s 0
At Gorham, Denise Minigell scored on a Laura Pratt assist at 16:07 to spark the University of Southern Maine to its first win.
Rachael Nimon added an unassisted goal at 49:06 for the 1-11 Huskies. Sadie Garnache-Poirier made two saves on two shots.
Ilissa Vallee stopped 18 of 21 shots for 0-10 Saint Joseph of Standish.

Bates 5, Southern Maine 0
At Lewiston, Ian Livengood scored twice as the Bobcats posted at least five goals for the fourth straight game in blanking the Huskies.
Terence O’Connell, Jacob Bluestone, and David Shear scored a goal apiece for 6-1 Bates. James Kenly and Aaron Schleicher combined to make two saves on seven shots.
Chris Willard made six saves on 14 shots for 5-2-3 Southern Maine of Gorham.
