Coaches needed

GLENBURN – The Glenburn Recreation Department is seeking volunteers for this year’s basketball and cheering season. Basketball coaches are needed for kindergarten to grade-eight pupils. Cheering squad coaches are needed for children in grades three to eight.

Volunteer referees also are needed. Training is provided.

Registration for the basketball and cheering programs will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 12 and 13, at the Glenburn Elementary School. The program is limited to Glenburn residents only.

Midget League

. T.J.’s Market, 3; UMaine, 2.

. Ryan’s Carpet Cleaning, 2; Garrett’s Auto Sales, 0. Nick Jordan booted in the two goals for Ryan’s Carpet Cleaning.

. Maine Test Borings, 4; Orrington Recreation, 1. Kevin Leclerc led the way with four goals for Maine Test Borings.

. Pine Hill Services, 2; Crescent Lumber, 0.

Youth League

. Raiders, 8; S.W. Cole Engineers, 1.

. PERC, 1; Rocky Knoll Golf, 1.

Midget-U10 League

. Orrington Rec All Stars, 3; TJ’s Market, 1. Matt Dunning scored two goals for the All Stars and Mitchell Kidder scored one.

Kurt Massey kicked home the single goal for the opposing team.

. Pine Hill Services, 5; Maine Test Borings, 4. Evan Pelkey with four goals and Phillip Faulkingham with one cinched it for Pine Hill. Kevin Leclerc booted in all four for Maine Test Borings.

. Ryan’s Carpet Cleaning, 3; Crescent Lumber, 0. Nick Jordan scored two and Braeden Sickles one for the Ryan’s team.

. Garrett’s Auto Sales, 4; UMaine, 1. Ryan Gagne, Josh Licata, Josh Harvey and Drew West had one apiece for Garrett’s. Adam Strang scored the single goal for UMaine.

Youth (U14) League

. PERC, 1; S.W. Cole Engineers, 0. Chris Fogler made the single goal for PERC.

. Rocky Knoll All Star, 2; Raiders, 2. T.J. Bouchard and Nate Carson has one apiece for Rocky Knoll. Nick Abbott and Ben Turner answered with one apiece for the Raiders.

Intro to rock climbing

ORONO – MaineBound Adventure Center will offer an introduction to rock climbing on a local crag Oct. 16.

The course will cover basic equipment use, knots, belaying and climbing movement. Transportation, climbing gear and instruction are included. Bring a lunch and water. The fee is $45 for University of Maine students, $55 for others.
