Mathieu, Nickerson power Belfast

SABATTUS – Sam Mathieu and Katie Nickerson each scored a first-half goal as the Belfast High girls soccer team picked up its ninth win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Oak Hill Wednesday in high school action.

Bryna Harrington stopped all five shots she faced for 9-1-2 Belfast.

Ashly Mederios made 23 saves on 25 shots for the 3-9 Raiders.

JV: 1-1

George Stevens 1, Central 0

At Corinth, Sadie Beardsworth scored the winning goal with 6:39 left in the first half to give George Stevens Academy the victory.

Kayla Eaton made two saves on three shots for 3-4-3 George Stevens of Blue Hill.

Nicole Daniel stopped 13 of 17 shots for 5-5-1 Central.

Searsport 9, DI-Stonington 0

At Deer Isle, Nori Francis-Mezger scored three goals to help Searsport to the win.

Haley Grove had two goals for 10-0-1 Searsport as Brittani Frisbie, Jana Francis-Mezger, Grace Messenger, and Natasha Zito each added a goal. April Pickering stopped two shots.

Regyn Lawry and Christina Fifield combined to make 17 saves on 26 shots for 1-10 Deer Isle-Stonington.

Hampden 1, Bucksport 0

At Hampden, Annie Lafayette scored the winning goal on a Mikki Libbey assist with 16:45 left in the first half to lead Hampden Academy to the victory.

Becca Workman stopped seven of 10 shots for 8-2 Hampden.

Katie Hurd made four saves on 13 shots for 6-3-1 Bucksport.

JV: Hampden 4-1

Penquis 3, Schenck 2 (OT)

At East Millinocket, Erin Beasley scored the game-winning goal 35 seconds into overtime to give Penquis the win.

Beasley added another goal for the 2-9-1 Patriots of Milo and Kate Hamlin also had a goal. Michelle Mulherin made seven saves on 11 shots.

Cortney McLaughlin and Gabby Rioux each scored a goal for 4-7-1 Schenck. Robin Larlee stopped 14 of 21 shots.

Greenville 4, East Grand 0

At Greenville, Hannah Breton scored three goals to help lead Greenville to the victory.

Rica Breton added a goal for 11-1 Greenville and Crystal Ferris had an assist. Beth Bartley and Martha Richardson combined to stop all three shots.

Paula Osnoe made 11 saves on 30 shots for 0-9-1 East Grand of Danforth.

Field hockey

Camden Hills 5, Mount View 1

At Rockport, Laura Schelble had two goals and an assist for the Windjammers.

Teammate Gwen Maddox also scored twice for 4-4-1 Camden Hills, while Jodi Newcombe had a goal and an assist.

Molly Arau scored for Mount View of Thorndike on an Amy Miles assist.

Georgia Smith made six saves on seven shots for Camden Hills. Carrie Beverage made 11 saves on 16 shots for 4-6-1 Mount View.

Stearns 5, Hampden 1

At Millinocket, Jamie Johnson scored two goals and assisted another to help Stearns past Hampden Academy.

Holly Franck added two goals for the 9-3 Minutemen and Sarah Sindo scored a goal. Johnna Michaud and Trisha MacDonald each had an assist. Deanna Michaud made 13 saves on 14 shots.

Gretchen Lescord scored on a Sarah Hessert assist in the first half for the 8-5 Broncos. Caroline Samp stopped 20 of 25 shots.

JV: Stearns 4-1

Nokomis 1, Foxcroft Academy 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Kellye Palmer scored on a Michelle Borden assist with 12:13 left in the second half to give Nokomis the victory.

Kristen Gould made two saves on two shots for the 7-3-1 Warriors of Newport.

Ashley Smith stopped nine of 10 shots for 6-7 Foxcroft Academy.

JV: Foxcroft 2-0

Boys soccer

WA Raiders 8, Woodland 2

At Woodland, Drake Simmons scored three goals and assisted on another to help lead the Washington Academy Raiders of East Machias.

Minh Nguyen had two goals and one assist for the 11-1 Raiders. Young Soo Kim, Ben Veader and Trevor Jessimen each scored a goal. Jeremy Gray and Aaron Ackley combined for 15 saves on 17 shots.

Ben Leighton scored both goals for the 3-6 Dragons. Craig Moody made 13 saves on 21 shots.

Ellsworth 2, Hermon 0

At Ellsworth, Matt Homich scored with 14:17 left in the second half to give Ellsworth the victory.

Jensen Rich scored off of a Alex Wentworth assist in the second half for 10-1 Ellsworth. Cory Smith made four saves on eight shots.

Corey Stanhope stopped six of 13 shots for 6-5 Hermon.

JV: Ellsworth 3-0
