ELLSWORTH – A Milbridge man died Wednesday from injuries he suffered in a single-car accident on Route 1A that afternoon.

According to Ellsworth police reports, Martin Charczuk, 79, was traveling south on Route 1A near Logan Way at the bottom of McGowan’s Hill. His car crossed the roadway, went into a ditch and struck some trees.

There was no indication as to what caused the car to cross the road.

Charczuk was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he later died.
