SOUTH PORTLAND – A symposium titled “Maine Workers: How Will They Keep Pace with the New Economy?” will be held at the Portland Regency Hotel at 20 Milk St. from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 4.
The symposium will provide attendees an opportunity to explore with experts the changes and innovations in the workplace resulting from the new economy, the effect they have on workers and employers, and the importance of ensuring that educational institutions are preparing graduates that employers need as the economy evolves.
Planned speakers are Thomas A. Kochan, the George M. Bunker professor of management at the MIT Sloan School of Management; and Robert T. Jones, president and CEO of the National Alliance of Business. Offering the Maine perspective will be Dana F. Connors, president of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce.
The event is co-sponsored by the Maine State Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Career Development, which is part of the Maine Technical College System.
