Crusaders blank Madawaska

VAN BUREN – Andy Martin scored on a Jacob Doucette assist with 22 minutes left in the second half to lead Van Buren to a 2-0 boys soccer victory over Madawaska on Tuesday.

Jean-Pierre Dumond added a second-half goal for the 11-2 Crusaders, and Andrew Taylor stopped 10 of 18 shots.

Paul Michaud made seven saves on 14 shots for 6-6-2 Madawaska.

Ashland 7, Easton 2

At Easton, Isaac Ward netted three goals for the Hornets.

Jeremy Baker added two goals and an assist. Sam Cobb and Josh Chamberlin scored one apiece, while Buddy Collins and Curtis Belanger made an assist each. Lucas Belanger made 11 saves on 17 shots.

Jared Flewelling and Mitchell Blodgett scored for the Bears. Jeremy Brock made 19 saves on 29 shots.

Houlton 14, Hodgdon 0

At Houlton, Chris Howland, Shariff Abouleish, Justin Stewart, Theron Larkins, Corey Lewi,s and Alex Mooers scored two goals apiece as 7-5-1 Houlton triumphed.

Peter Merbach and Ryan Hill had the other goals, and Merbach and Eben Thompson combined for five saves.

Jordan Guy made eight saves for 0-12 Hodgdon.

Presque Isle 8, Fort Kent 2

At Presque Isle, Greg Whitaker scored three goals and assisted on another to lead the Wildcats past the Warriors.

Nate Carter added two goals and an assist, Robert Gartley and Sean Daigle contributed a goal and an assist each, and Chris Carlin had a goal. Brad Baker made eight saves for 11-2 Presque Isle.

Kelly Thibodeau and Jared McBreairty scored for 7-4-2 Fort Kent, and Derek Plourde made 17 saves.

JV: Fort Kent 4-2

Washburn 6, Wisdom 0

At St. Agatha, Ben Goupille, Steve Pesut, Adam Thompson, Isaac Carney, Sam Harris, and Josh Goupille all notched a goal in the Beavers’ win.

Zach Bird contributed two assists and Carney had one for 10-2-1 Washburn. Jason Thompson and Nathan Doody combined to make seven saves on 10 shots.

Brent Michaud faced 30 shots, stopping 24, for the 0-11-1 Pioneers.

Lee 5, Katahdin 0

At Stacyville, Rick Kim had a hat trick with three goals to power Lee Academy past Katahdin.

Jack Kang and Doob Dow each added a goal for the 11-1 Pandas, and Kris King stopped six of eight shots.

Burton Brayall made 15 saves on 26 shots for 5-6-2 Katahdin.

Bangor Christian 5, Sumner 1

At Bangor, Josh Griffin led the Patriots with two goals.

Eric Sobey, Matt Denbow, and Ignacio Bustos each scored another for the 9-3-1 Patriots. Aaron Wilson and Ryan Weston combined for two saves on six shots.

Chris Cowperthwaite scored the goal for the 1-11-1 Tigers of East Sullivan, and Mason Young stopped eight of 28 shots.

Girls soccer

Lee 11, Katahdin 0

At Stacyville, Shelby Pickering scored five goals to lead Lee Academy to the win.

Michaela Ham scored two goals for the 13-0 Pandas, and Kerri Harris, Brooke Harris, Amanda Gifford, and Marci Moors each added a goal. Jackie Moors made four saves on six shots.

Kayla Stevens stopped 15 of 28 shots for 1-13 Katahdin.

Washburn 3, Wisdom 2

At St. Agatha, Kristen Goupille’s second goal of the game, coming with 13 minutes left, gave Washburn its victory.

Goupille had tied the game eight minutes earlier. Alex Bird had the other goal for 7-6 Washburn, and Amber Palmer made 10 saves on 15 shots.

Nicole St. Pierre and Justine Tardif had a goal and an assist apiece for 3-10 Wisdom, and Kayle Daigle made 15 saves on 20 shots.

Houlton 5, Hodgdon 2

At Houlton, Danielle Sewell and Brittany Guiod each made a pair of goals to lift the Shiretowners to victory.

Keegan Hovey also scored for 4-6-3 Houlton, and Nicole Manton made three saves on seven shots.

Andrea Blanchette and Brianne McGary scored for the 6-7 Hawks, while Heather London faced 13 shots and made five saves.

Ashland 2, Central Aroostook 0

At Mars Hill, Beth Chamberlin scored on a Caitlin Sherman assist with 20 minutes left in the second half to lead Ashland to the win.

Ashley Peters also scored for 11-1 Ashland. Ashley Nemer made two saves on three shots.

Rachel Graves stopped 17 of 19 shots for 1-8-2 Central Aroostook.

DI-S 1, Narraguagus 1 (2OT)

At Deer Isle, Tia Wood scored the tying goal on a Leti Douglass assist with 8:11 left in the first half for Deer Isle-Stonington.

Christina Fifield made 18 saves on 19 shots for the 1-11-1 Mariners.

Elizabeth Grant scored 47 seconds into the game for 4-7-2 Narraguagus of Harrington, and Alicia Tenney stopped seven of eight shots.

Bangor Christian 8, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Brooke Hale booted home three goals and Amber Leathers had two as the Patriots gained the win.

Adrienne Ricci, Christin Pelletier, and Heather Holmes each added a goal. Johannah Kutz stopped all three shots to come her way for 6-5-2 Bangor Christian.

Whitney Page saved 22 of 35 shots for the 1-11 Tigers.

Ellsworth 2, Geo. Stevens 1 (2OT)

At Ellsworth, Emily Miller scored the tie-breaking goal off an Ashley Olson assist with 3:10 left in the second overtime.

Jen Richter started the scoring with an early second-half goal, assisted by Miller, for 4-5-4 Ellsworth. Catie Cravens saved eight of nine shots.

Laura Overton made the game-tying goal with 12:10 left in regulation for 5-5-3 George Stevens. Kayla Eaton faced 14 shots, stopping 12.

JV: Ellsworth 2-0

Field hockey

Belfast 6, Leavitt 0

At Belfast, Jamie Flagg and Britt Reed each scored two goals to push Belfast to the win in their final game.

Skye Ellis and Carrie Hart each added a goal for 14-0 Belfast. Kelsey Jackson had three assists as Hart and Liz Anderson combined to stop all six shots.

Jessica Paladnio made 16 saves on 22 shots for 5-9 Leavitt of Turner.

JV: Belfast 2-0
