Brewer school awarded two $500 grants

BREWER – The Washington Street School has received two $500 grants from the ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Program to support reading and math programs.

Roy Boothby of R.H. Foster Energy LLC worked with school officials to secure the grants, which are two of 4,000 available to schools across the country served by Exxon or Mobil stations. The grants were made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corp.

Administrators and teachers at the Washington Street School will use the grants to support both their reading and math programs.

The ExxonMobil Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Exxon and Mobil retailers with the opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neighborhood schools. ExxonMobil officials believe that, as members of the community, local retailers are best qualified to work with local educators to help identify schools and programs most in need of support.

R.H. Foster Energy LLC met stringent eligibility criteria before applying for and being awarded these grants including having a commitment to provide a superior buying experience for customers, officials said.

This year, R.H. Foster Energy and its dealers supported communities that it does business in by providing $11,500 in grants to local schools.
