An accident on Route 2 in Milford sent four to the hospital and blocked traffic for about 20 minutes Tuesday morning.
Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Tom Burgess reported that the driver of a Ford Tempo was pulling out of the parking lot of the Milford variety store when she T-boned a van heading east. The driver said her view of the road was obscured by a parked vehicle.
Burgess said four people were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center, with some suffering head and neck injuries and another complaining of sore legs. All were treated and then released, according to a nursing supervisor.
A Glenburn man was driving with a suspended license on Tuesday when the passenger in his car waved and smiled at a Bangor police officer, then made an obscene gesture.
Bangor police Detective Chris Stevens followed the car until it pulled into a Husson Avenue apartment complex parking lot.
The driver, Aaron Scott Burke, 20, got out of the car and told Stevens he recognized the officer as his fifth-grade D.A.R.E. instructor. Burke also admitted his license was suspended and Stevens summoned him on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
A Turner man was disruptive and disorderly wherever he went Tuesday afternoon, first at Eastern Maine Medical Center, then with police and finally at the Penobscot County Jail.
Christopher Labbe, 32, fled from the hospital after police were called to have him removed. Labbe broke a tackle by one police officer when officers caught up with him. He fought with another officer until he could be restrained.
Bangor police Officer Larry Morrill reported that while in the cruiser, Labbe threatened to stab him in the eye and eat the eye. At the jail, Labbe claimed he wanted to cooperate and start with a fresh slate, but a corrections officer reported that Labbe kicked another inmate in the groin.
He was charged by Bangor police with disorderly conduct and refusing to submit to arrest.
