Fish single lifts East Grand past Woodland

DANFORTH – Josh Fish hit a bloop, game-winning RBI single into left field in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday as East Grand pulled out a 14-13 schoolboy baseball victory over Woodland.

Jim Zugelder smacked a two-run single during East Grand’s four-run rally in the seventh. Fish added two other singles.

Tim Irish smacked three singles while Josh Rollins had a double and two singles.

Marlin Lutz paced the Dragons with a single and a three-run homer. Andrew Knapp hit four singles and Justin McCoubrey doubled.

At St. Agatha, Aaron Gervais belted a solo home run as the Pioneers won a game that featured 14 errors, seven by each squad.

Ryan Paradis and Troy Guerrette each had a single and double for the winners.

Geoff LeBlanc smacked a two-run homer for the Hornets. Brandon Millett added a double.

At East Machias, Barrett Craven hit a two-run homer in the first and added a single to power an 18-hit effort for Washington Academy.

Ryan Maker drove in three runs on three singles. Brent Colbeth tallied three RBIs on two singles and a double. Whitney Stevens added three singles.

Matt Merchant led Jonesport-Beals with two singles and an RBI.

At Washburn, Jeff Swallow allowed only two hits in five innings, struck out five and stroked a two-run double to pace Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook.

Corey Shields doubled and singled with two RBIs and Zack Philibert singled twice (RBI) for the Warriors.

J.J. Pinette and Corey Bourgoin singled for Fort Kent.

At Washburn, Ben Bouchard’s seventh-inning grand slam broke open the game for the Warriors.

Fort Kent’s Corey Bourgoin homered, doubled and singled for three RBIs. Lance Morin hit a solo home run and J.J. Pinette tallied three RBIs.

Clint Carter knocked in four runs on a double and single for the Beavers. Seth Milton smacked a three-run homer in the third.

At Hodgdon, Evan Bither allowed a leadoff single, then held the Tigers hitless the rest of the way.

Bither, who struck out seven and walked one, also provided a two-run home run and a two-run single for Hodgdon. Ryan Callnan hit two singles with three RBIs, while Derek Nickerson and Chris Blanchette singled twice.

Ben Arato singled for Fort Fairfield.

Hawthorne finished with a double, a single and an RBI for Nokomis. Jon Blair, Pat Morse and Justin Nichols each singled twice and had an RBI. Justin Veazie struck out seven and walked two in the four-hitter.

Andy Pease hit an RBI triple for the Indians and Roger Cole added an RBI double.

For the Hawks, Sarah Oliver hit a double and drove in three runs. Whitney Langworth contributed a two-run single.

Danielle Hagerman had two doubles and two singles and drove in three runs; Sarah Beasley had three singles and an RBI and Rebecca Lenentine singled twice for Houlton.

Susan and Becca Saucier had singles for Stearns.

Rhonda Chambers paced Southern Aroostook with two singles and a double. Kristi Brooker singled twice.
