End excessive taxation

Driving into Fairfield this morning, I couldn’t help but count the U.S. flags I saw. By the time I had reached Memorial Park my count was at 13. I remembered that our original 13 colonies had stood up against excessive taxation risking the lives and personal freedom of their citizens.

The Palesky tax cap initiative was an opportunity for taxpayers to stand up in favor of, but they failed to show responsibility, forgetting the benefits to be realized, the freedom from excessive property taxation, along with forcing our municipal officials to become more concerned and responsible on this issue.

Our taxpayers need to remember that our freedom to vote against excessive taxation was earned for us on another town square a long time ago.

Now the Legislature gets another chance. Let us hope its members realize that excessive property taxation has been, and is still, a major problem that needs to be dealt with now. We need positive action, not rhetoric.
