AUGUSTA – SafetyWorks! is offering a free workplace safety and health course on child labor laws 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in Hallowell.

The class is designed for individuals who employ or teach teen workers. The class is offered at no charge, but pre-registration is required. Information can be obtained by calling 1-877-723-3345.

“Teen workers are more likely to get hurt on the job than adults, even though they are not allowed to do some of the most dangerous jobs,” said Laura Fortman, Maine labor commissioner. SafetyWorks! is a program of the Maine Department of Labor.
