Houlton Christian edges Owls

LINNEUS – Class C Greater Houlton Christian used a six-run sixth inning to defeat the Class C Madawaska Owls 10-8 in schoolgirl softball action Friday.

At Linneus, Erin Moakler, Sarah Wallace, Sarah Jago and Kia Faulkner hit RBI singles during a six-run sixth inning as Class D Greater Houlton Christian beat Class C Madawaska.

Moakler and Faulker rapped three singles each for the winners, while winning pitcher Darcy Nason and Jago had two each.

Ashley Bouchard, Kelly Martin and Emily Lavertu stroked two singles apiece for Madawaska.

At Danforth, the Royalettes scored in every inning as they rolled over the Vikings.

Chelsie Carver had three singles and three runs batted in, Crystal Emerson tripled, singled and had an RBI, Sabrina Stewart and Crystal Davis each singled twice and Naomi Chandler drove in three runs on a single for Jonesport-Beals.

Tabitha Osnoe had a double, single and two runs batted it. Becky Gilman doubled and singled and Tara Cropley notched two singles and drove in a run for East Grand.

At Fort Kent, Betsy Nadeau’s two-run single in the second inning helped propel the Warriors past the Vikings.

Nadeau finished with a double, two singles, and four RBIs. Ashley Pelletier posted four singles, and Melissa Morneault added a pair of singles for Fort Kent.

Samantha Grier and Ashley Monahan each rapped a double and two singles for Caribou.

At Presque Isle Thursday, Lauren Wildeman led the Wildcats with a single and a double for three RBIs.

At Howland, Arielle Sickler’s two-run single in the top of the seventh was the key blow as the Patriots assumed the lead for good.

Winning pitcher Megan Russell, Lindsay Ouellette, and Amanda Martin rapped three singles apiece for Penquis of Milo.

For the Howlers, Meagan Cyr posted a double, two singles, and an RBI; Michelle Batchelder added three singles and two RBIs; and Kylie McGlinn had a double, single, and three RBIs.

Kristi Veazie scored Dexter’s only run on a fielder’s choice.

At Guilford, Darri McCormick drove in the winning run on a double in the sixth inning to give Foxcroft Academy the winning edge.

Mardi Murray followed up with a double and a single, and Leigh Cartwright and Karie White hit two singles each for the Ponies.

Alice White-Cyr led Piscataquis of Guilford with a double, a single and two RBIs. Sisters Meagan and Ivy Galuski hit two singles apiece. Meagan Galuski also drove in two runs.

At Bucksport, Kelly White pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out seven and walking one, as the Golden Bucks won for the 14th time this season.

Jessica Taylor tripled and singled (1 RBI) for Bucksport while Jana Richards (2 RBIs) and Tara Tweedie (1 RBI) each doubled and singled. Heather Pelletier and Leah Page each singled twice with an RBI and Cara Pollard singled twice.

At Belfast, Kelsey Bryant hit a three-run home run in the third inning to give the Lions a lead that would carry them to victory.

Morgan Crandall recorded a triple for the Lions and scored a run in the sixth off a Sara McIntire single.

Caitlin Grant hit a double and a single for Rockland, and Kirby Gushee followed up with two singles.

At Millinocket, Nicole Kenniston hammered out three singles and drove in three runs to carry George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill to victory in only five innings.

Elise Bishop followed up with three singles and two RBIs, and Sarah Clapp hit three singles and scored three runs for the Eagles.

Jackie Caverly drove in Stearns’ two runs on two singles. Kristina MacKenzie also notched two singles.

At Hermon, the Red Riots scored 11 runs in the second inning en route to the five-inning win over the Hawks.

Molly Dupere doubled, singled and drove in three runs, Katherine Erb and Emily Reed each had a double, two singles and an RBI and Mary Thibeault had three singles and an RBI for Orono.

Krystal Terrill led Hermon with a double, single and two runs batted in and Briana Bruce and Kristen Hart had two singles and an RBI apiece.

At Caribou, Jerry Shanahan struck out 15, while walking just one and allowing only four hits as the Vikings downed the Warriors.

Shanahan also contributed at the plate with a double, single and a run batted in while Travis Beaulieu had two doubles, Travis Snell singled twice and Nicholas Chasse belted a home run for Caribou.

Casey Boucher singled twice for Fort Kent.

Frank Plucker hit a double for Washburn, and Clint Carter recorded an RBI single.

Alvin Beal had a double and three singles, Justin King doubled twice and Jared Alley chipped in with a single and a double for Jonesport-Beals.

Richard Byers led East Grand with a double and a single while Ryan Fish and Josh Rollins had two singles apiece.

Fred Bird led PI with a double, a single and three RBIs and Chris Saucier doubled and singled with two RBIs. Joe Gahagan and Aaron Kierstead each poked a double and a single with an RBI and Marcus Nadeau singled twice with an RBI.

Jerry Shanahan doubled twice for Caribou. Andrew Bouchard provided a sacrifice fly.

Steve Kissell struck out six for Penquis of Milo.

Ryan Harnden hit a solo home run and a single for Mount View of Thorndike.

Mountain also had two other RBIs. Adam Russell, Ross Morrison (2 RBIs) and Joe Kinney each hit three singles.

Mike Springer doubled twice with two RBIs for Mattanawcook. Fred Pete cranked out an RBI single for the Lynx of Lincoln.
