Lubec Consolidated School

LUBEC – Principal Richard R. Cote of Lubec Consolidated School has announced honor parts for the Class of 2001.

Graduation exercises will at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at the high school gymnasium.

Valedictorian Debra Brown, daughter of David and Shirley Brown or Lubec, is class president, vice president of the Student Council, president of the National Honor Society and assistant editor of the yearbook.

She played volleyball for several years.

She is active in curriculum development at Lubec Consolidated School and in the Service Learning Projects.

She has attended and presented at many workshops throughout the country to promote the aquaculture and hydroponics programs. Some of the places that she presented have been in Boston, Nebraska, New Mexico, Vermont and Washington, D.C.

She is the recipient of the Maine Principal’s Award, Herff Jones Principal’s Leadership Award, and is a Maine Scholar recipient.

She plans to attend the University of New England in the fall to study pre-med.

Salutatorian Aisha Saunders, daughter of Suzanne Saunders of Lubec, is a member of the National Honor Society. She participated in the Student Council and French Club, and was a member of the basketball and soccer squads. She has maintained high honor status throughout her school career. She is a University of Maine Scholarship winner, Maine Scholar Achievement Award winner, and has been listed in Who’s Who In American High Schools.

She plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono to study nursing.

Other students who attained honor parts are: Jennifer Campbell, daughter of Keith and Rose Campbell of Lubec; Jonathan Murray, son of David and Cindy Murray of Lubec; Sara McConnell, daughter of Gregory and Debra McConnell of Lubec; Heather Farmer, daughter of Charlotta Farmer of Lubec; Carrie Lesuer, daughter of Amy and Timothy Moores of Lubec; Nicholas Matthews, son of Walter and Barbara Matthews of Lubec; Kara Murphy, daughter of James and Terry Murphy of Lubec; Jodi Jones, daughter of Howard and Patricia Jones of Lubec; and Basil Woodward, son of Basil and Rosalie Woodward.
