Lubec Consolidated School
LUBEC – Principal Richard R. Cote of Lubec Consolidated School has announced honor parts for the Class of 2001.
Graduation exercises will at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at the high school gymnasium.
Valedictorian Debra Brown, daughter of David and Shirley Brown or Lubec, is class president, vice president of the Student Council, president of the National Honor Society and assistant editor of the yearbook.
She played volleyball for several years.
She is active in curriculum development at Lubec Consolidated School and in the Service Learning Projects.
She has attended and presented at many workshops throughout the country to promote the aquaculture and hydroponics programs. Some of the places that she presented have been in Boston, Nebraska, New Mexico, Vermont and Washington, D.C.
She is the recipient of the Maine Principal’s Award, Herff Jones Principal’s Leadership Award, and is a Maine Scholar recipient.
She plans to attend the University of New England in the fall to study pre-med.
Salutatorian Aisha Saunders, daughter of Suzanne Saunders of Lubec, is a member of the National Honor Society. She participated in the Student Council and French Club, and was a member of the basketball and soccer squads. She has maintained high honor status throughout her school career. She is a University of Maine Scholarship winner, Maine Scholar Achievement Award winner, and has been listed in Who’s Who In American High Schools.
She plans to attend the University of Maine in Orono to study nursing.
