Kenniston baskets spark Old Town

OLD TOWN – Shawn Kenniston scored the tying basket with 26 seconds remaining, then hit an eight-foot pull-up jumper from the lane with seven seconds left to lift Old Town to a 59-57 Big East basketball victory over Caribou at MacKenzie Gym.

Kenniston finished with 26 points to lead Old Town, while J.R. Madden contributed 10.

Caribou senior James Sam poured in a game-high 29 points to go over 1,000 for his career. He went into the game with 980.

Joel Griffeth netted 10 points for the Vikings.

At the Central Maine Civic Center in Lewiston, Justin Libby scored the winning goal with 4:19 remaining in the third period, leading the 7-4 Rams to victory over Lewiston. The assists on the winning goal went to Craig Franck and Billy Baker.

Libby scored another goal and had two assists while Kevin Cobb added a goal and an assist. Corey Mayhew scored one goal while John Huhn recorded an assist. Justin Climo stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced for Bangor.

Ryan Vye scored and had an assist for Lewiston while Keith Morin and John Boucher scored a goal each. Matt Roy faced 25 shots and stopped 21 for the 3-4-2 Blue Devils.

Brewer 4, Massabesic 0

At Biddeford, Josh Kochis scored two goals and added an assist to lift the Witches to the win.

Will Prescott and A.J. Hayes also scored goals. Jamie Mansfield had two assists and Robbie Hayes had one. Rob Elliot stopped 14 shots for 6-5 Brewer.

Shane Brooks stopped 34 of 38 shots for 2-9 Massabesic of Waterboro.

Orono 6, Old Town 2

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Pat Skall scored two goals and assisted on one as undefeated Orono rolled to its 11th win.
