Slippery Bangor-area roads cited in several minor accidents

Several minor traffic accidents were reported in Greater Bangor Wednesday night as temperatures hovered around freezing and made roads a little slippery, a Penobscot County Regional Communications dispatcher said.

Most of the accidents didn’t involve injuries. An ambulance crew did respond to an accident around 8 p.m. near a church on Route 1A in Winterport, but no one was taken to the hospital.

Many other minor accidents were reported Wednesday evening, a dispatcher in Penobscot County said, including a car-deer accident in Carmel that killed the animal.

A Bangor woman reported Wednesday to police that someone came into her home and took three holiday decorations valued at about $30.

The 37-year-old Division Street resident said that between 8 a.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, someone entered her apartment and removed two green and red wreaths with blinking lights and a sign with Winnie the Pooh characters on it.

The woman said she did not know how anyone could have gotten into her home. There was no sign of forced entry, according to police.

Bangor police are investigating but had no suspects as of Wednesday night.
