O’Connell leads Hodgdon in rally

VAN BUREN – Leif O’Connell scored 10 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter to rally the Hodgdon boys past Van Buren 50-42 in basketball action Wednesday.

Van Buren had rallied from a 16-3 first quarter deficit to take a 34-32 lead into the fourth quarter but the Hawks outscored the Crusaders 18-8 over the final eight minutes.

Kirby Sanford had 18 points for the winners.

Tyler Lapierre and Dom Rossignol had 10 points each for Van Buren.

At Alfond Arena in Orono, Jacob Roeder had a hattrick with all three goals to lead Orono to the win.

Tony Raymond had two assists for 4-1-1 Orono as Dan Ohno and Sean Babin each had an assist. Jared Bussell stopped 12 of 13 shots.

Derek Smith scored on a Dustin Colbry assist at 8:34 into the second period for 2-2 Foxcroft Academy. Jon Catell made 33 saves on 36 shots.
